Company Update:
ProSieben's Q1 performance was very disappointing. Global revenues remained flat, declining by 1% yoy, while advertising revenues fell sharply by 5% yoy. This decline contributed to a 39% drop in EBITDA. Since 2019, advertising revenues have decreased by an average of 3% annually, making the 5% decline in Q1 particularly concerning, as there is no indication of a slowdown.
ProSieben stock is currently under two offers:
- MFE has proposed acquiring all shares at a low price, primarily to pass the 30% ownership threshold (MFE owns 29.9% of ProSieben) without making a real attractive offer on all the shares and prompt the board to expedite the sale of Flaconi and Parshipmeet.
- PPF has made an offer at €7 per share, but it is limited, as PPF which has a 15% stake in Prosieben does not wish to exceed this 30% threshold.
Expert Opinion:
Our expert believes the underlying business of ProSiebenSat1 is really hurting. He is not sure broadcasting has a very bright future. Valuation looks cheap but probably for a reason. He therefore would use the opportunity of the speculation to sell shares if he had some.
